The plaque inscribed with “Dharma’s Source Flows Eastward” is displayed above the inner gate of the Grand Buddha Hall at Tung Lin Kok Yuen. Presented by Master Xu Yun and eight prominent monks, it symbolises the spread of Buddhist teachings to Hong Kong and highlights the centre’s dedication to preserving the legacy of the dharma.
The four words, elegantly carved in intaglio semi-cursive script with black lettering on a brown background, were calligraphed by Master Sou Pui. An accompanying note credits a compassionate lay practitioner for establishing Tung Lin Kok Yuen on Shan Kwong Road to revive morality through Buddhist teachings, with the plaque commemorating this effort.
The names of the nine esteemed monks who jointly commemorated this gift are listed: Venerable Xu Yun of Gushan, Venerable Ai Ting of Jiashan, Venerable Shuang Ting, Qing Quan, Jing Guan, and Hou Kuan of Jinshan, Venerable Zhi Guang of Jiaoshan, Venerable Yue Chi of Putuo, and Venerable Ruo Shun of Sheshan.
